NZ Bay of Islands and Northlands

We left the Coromandel Peninsula to drive north to the Bay of Islands and the Northlands… an area we hadn’t yet visited on our previous trip to New Zealand. This area is rich in history. Māori tribes arrived here from other South Pacific islands about 750 years ago. Māori settled and multiplied throughout the bay and on several of its many islands. This is our 3rd OneWorld Around the World airline ticket… 16 flights on 4 continents; 5 if you count a connection in London. The majority […]

The main islands have only been settled for about 200 years, first by the French and then by the English. Many African slaves were brought in to […]

Mountains, ocean, beaches, and vineyards; fascinating history and cosmopolitan, happening vibe … we highly recommend this fabulous destination to anyone. Oh, and $1US buys almost 15 South African Rand, making it so affordable just now! Our besties, Will and Brandy Taylor, owners of Khashana Adventure Travel, will be basing out of Cape Town for much of the next year. Will’s mom, Val, lives on Woodbridge Island, just minutes from downtown Cape Town. To be […]
