Air kissing in France, and a few other tidbits

The original title of my post was going to be T.G.I.V. (Friday in French is Vendredi 🙂 But I obviously didn’t get this posted in time for that. This past week was as tiring as our recent cycling trip, just in a different way. We took Saturday completely off; now we’re taking a break from our Sunday studying. French school is, in a word, HUMBLING. The phrase ‘drinking out a fire hydrant’ also comes to mind. But…we do feel we’ve learned a lot already. Of course, when you know next to nothing, your rate of learning is pretty high. The […]

Fireworks for French School?!

Well, we must have done really well at our first full day of French school yesterday… they shot off fireworks for us last night!! haha Actually, we didn’t have any other pics to post, our brains being too stuffed to think of such things, but it WAS a nice ending to a taxing day spent speaking in French only. And as we were allowed to speak English today (and they spoke almost all English), there was LOTS of chattering going on as people got acquainted with each other and talked about everything from the economy to jokes. I suspect that tomorrow […]

A new old feeling…. the First Day of School!

French language school, that is. IMMERSION French language school. As in, all day, every day (8:30-5:30, M-F) NO ENGLISH ALLOWED. And I think this starts from the moment we walk in this morning. Um, I’m scared. Marks says he feels like he’s going to first grade again. (at least he doesn’t feel like he’s going to the principal’s office, as he actually did more than once in the first grade). Okay, as an aside, I just learned that he got into THREE fights on the first day of first grade (he says all them tiffs). Hopefully nobody here will be […]
