Welcome to the ‘new and improved’ Two and Fro travel blog. With the help of my new friend, Derek Freal (travel blogger/designer/programmer extraordinaire), I’ve attempted to make our blog a little more organized and easy on the eyes. Hope you like it.
So, our latest trip. We’ve been referring to it as Asia 2014, and mostly, it is in Asia. But we’re folding Asia into an American Air/One World Alliance Around the World ticket, so the trip includes a few stops that aren’t. (in Asia, that is) You might even call us crazy for a few of the travel legs that are solely, unashamedly, to rack up AA miles toward Executive Platinum status.
Over the next 9 weeks, we’ll visit:
- Perth/Margaret River Valley, Western Australia
- Japan, including a week of hiking the Japanese Alps
- Bhutan
- Nepal & the Everest Foothills
- Thailand
- New Delhi
- Dubai and Abu Dhabi
Add in the miles-hopping and connecting flights and it looks like this.

Needless to say, we’re very excited; out of the list above, we’ve only been to New Delhi before.
It was bittersweet leaving yesterday, though. Our good friend, and avid Two and Fro blog follower, call her L, has just been diagnosed with Stage III pancreatic cancer. Our hearts are aching. We seriously reconsidered our travel plans. But L and her family shooed us firmly out the door and made us promise that they could see these places through our eyes while she fights off this monster. So, until we can experience somewhere new together, L, this trip is dedicated to you. And to all our friends and family and followers, please, send prayers and thoughts for healing and strength for our courageous and beautiful friend.
“Life is not a dress rehearsal.”
Looks like y’all are going to have an amazing adventure! I used to live in Tokyo and even now, after five years of traveling, that is still my favorite city in the world. You’ll love it 🙂 However I’ve never been to Nepal or Bhutan, the latter of which I am especially fascinated by. Cannot wait to see your photos and hear about the trip 🙂
Wow, favorite city, huh? That’s saying something with everywhere you’ve traveled. Any must-see’s or do’s that aren’t found in every guidebook?
